An
Arizona native, Kimberlee Goodman received her Bachelor of Music
degree in flute performance from Arizona
State University in
1998. She then began a Masters of Music degree program in flute
performance at The Ohio State University
in Columbus, Ohio.
While
at Ohio State, Kim became a graduate teaching assistant
to Katherine Borst Jones, Area Head for Woodwinds/Brass/Percussion.
Kim was a member of both the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony,
and
performed on the Wind Symphony's recent recording, "Sounds,
Shapes, and Symbols." Kim received her Masters of Music
degree from The Ohio State University in June, 2000. In August
of that year,
Kim served as the equipment chair
for the National
Flute Association convention. She also served as
the NFA's Visual Documentation chairperson from 2000-2004.
The
summer of 2001 saw Ms. Goodman join the faculty of the International
Music Camp, located on the border of North Dakota
and Manitoba, Canada. She taught flute and a course in music
appreciation for the camp. In the autumn, she entered a Doctor
of Musical Arts degree program at OSU.
In
the summer of 2004, Kim performed as principal flutist
for the International Orchestral Festival in Dublin, Ireland. That
autumn, she helped to form the Stratosphere
Flute Quartet . She
once again served as a teaching assistant to Katherine
Borst Jones in
2004 and 2005. Kim was a featured soloist with the OSU Symphony
Orchestra in October of 2004.
In the spring of 2007 Kim taught a course
at The Ohio State University. This course was taught along side
Professor Katherine
Borst Jones. The class was entitled "Navigating a Career
in Music". In July, she gave a lecture/recital in Bangkok,
Thailand for the College Music Society international convention.
In August, she performed with the Stratosphere Flute Quartet
and as soloist at the National Flute Association convention in
Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In
December of 2007, Kim received her Doctor of Musical Arts
degree in flute
performance from The Ohio State University.
Kim
has participated in many flute competitions and master classes,
performing for Jim Walker at the Eastman School
of Music in Rochester, New York and Alexa Still at
Southern Illinois University. Additional master classes included
those of Arnold Jacobs, Bart Feller, Trevor Wye, and Robert Willoughby.
Kim presented master classes at New Albany High School (New Albany,
OH) Tartan High School (Oakdale, MN), and Seattle Pacific University
(Seattle, WA).
Dr. Goodman will be presenting a masterclass and recital at the
MacPhail Center of Music in February of 2008. In April, she will
be presenting a lecture, lecture/recital, and performance at
the College Music Society's Super Regional Conference in Missoula,
Montana. And in August of 2008, Dr. Goodman will be presenting
a lecture and performing with the Stratosphere Flute Quartet
at the National Flute Association's annual convention in Kansas
City, Missouri.
Currently, Kim is a music educator at Otterbein
College in Westerville, Ohio. She teaches flute lessons,
coaches flute choir, woodwind quartet, and teaches woodwind methods
to music education majors.
